Lime and Garlic Hummous
Carrots are my favourite daily snack, so now and again I need something to liven up this daily dose of beta-carotene. I have never made humous before and was very surprised as to how easy it was; and lets be honest this recipe hardly breaks the bank. Not only this but by creating your own, you can control how much salt is added; which we all know we should be reducing due to it’s effects on raising blood pressure.
Ingredients
2 cans of chickpeas
½ lime
1 tsp. ground garlic
4 tbsp. water
100ml tahini
Salt and pepper to season
Method
1. Add all of the ingredients together in a food processor and blend until the mixture becomes a puree. Some food processors will work more efficiently than others. In my case I had to keep stirring the mixture to ensure everything was being blended. In the end I just used a spoon to mash the last of the remaining whole chickpeas.
2. Add additional lime, garlic, salt or pepper to taste if required.
